Advertisers on Spotify can now target ads
based on the podcasts users listen to.
This will allow them to reach users based on the podcast category.
We feel that this could eventually lead to
something BIG in the podcast domain for Spotify.
Initially, Spotify had joined hands with
Samsung and 3M to test podcast-based ad targeting.
That changes today, as this feature will now be available
to ten regions including the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, UK,
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia
Earlier this year,
Spotify had acquired Gimlet media for over $200 million.

The move solidified Spotify’s expansion in the podcast arena.
As of April 2019, Spotify had 100 million paid subscribers
and 217 million monthly active users across its premium
and ad-supported tiers.
As per this report,
the Company is pulling away from Apple Music.
